New Age, Tarot, and New Thought christianity

At the end of last semester, the RC students brainstormed topics for the Spring. This was a catch-all category of things they had heard about but did not know about.

  • New Age Spirituality
  • Tarot Card Reading
  • Manifestation (hearing this word in a Christian context)

So where to begin as a leader?

Easy! Marcia Montenegro’s website CANA – Christian Answers for the New Age.

I used the information on her site to construct this week’s PowerPoint and discussion topics. Here are some of the slides from this week’s discussion.

New Age beliefs have combined a dizzying array of beliefs!
Marcia’s book Spellbound is fantastic!

Marcia’s book Spellbound is fantastic! I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to learn more about these topics from a Christian perspective. She describes what the beliefs are, what the dangers are, and what the Bible says in very clear ways.

Here are a few paragraphs from her book section on divination.

As you can see Marcia is thorough.

Finally, let’s address the non-christian beliefs of the New Thought movement “in Christianity”.

The New Thought Movement

This week will be a fantastic discussion.

We’d love to have you join us at 5:30 PM in CFS 123 on the SHSU Campus.

Blessings to you and yours,

Darren Williams
