Is there MORE to life than “picking a major, finding a job, and making money”?
Many successful people are still unhappy and unfulfilled. Why?
Why are you here? What is your purpose?
Come hear from three Ph.D. chemists (a Protestant, a Catholic, and a Muslim) talk about the importance religion has played in bringing meaning to their lives. And ask YOUR questions on purpose and meaning during the Q&A.
Monday night, October 14th at 5:30 PM in Mafrige Auditorium
Students, Staff, Faculty, and the Huntsville Community are invited.
There is street parking available with the Park Mobile App on Bobby K Marks Drive. Walk between the Newton Gresham Library and the Teacher Education Center. The auditorium entrance is on the north side of the Smith-Hutson Addition close to the Library.

The Professor Panel
Our Professor Panel consists of three successful Ph.D. Chemists who have found that there’s more to life than just academic pursuits, publishing paper, and grading exams. Come hear their perspectives and ask your deepest questions during the Q&A session.
- Dr. Tarek Trad is an inorganic chemist who was born in Lebanon. He will give us a Muslim perspective on what brings meaning to life.
- Dr. Christopher Hobbs is an organic chemist who was raised in a Christian household, spent several years as an atheist, and is now a Roman Catholic who has discovered ancient philosophy along the way.
- Dr. Darren Williams is a physical chemist with a varied background in many Protestant Christian traditions (Episcopal, Baptist, Methodist, and Lutheran). He is also the Chapter Director and Faculty Advisor for Ratio Christi – the Christian apologetics club on campus that organized this event.
Ratio Christi is a Christian apologetics club that promotes thoughtful Christianity through discussion of Biblical answers to life’s deepest questions. The club’s regular meetings are Monday nights at 5:30 PM in the Chemistry and Forensic Science building room 123.
